1) If you are a CAAP/GA client, talk to your worker. They can authorize you for as much shelter time as you need as long as you are in good standing with the shelter and CAAP programs.
2) For anyone: go to a *city resource center* for a 1-night or 7-night reservation. Resource Centers include Mission Neighborhood Resource Center (165 Capp St), MSC South (525 5th St), Glide Memorial Church (330 Ellis), Tenderloin Self-Help Center (290 Turk St), or 150 Otis (150 Otis St).
3) Women in crisis (rape or domestic violence) can apply for emergency shelter at A Woman's Place can call (415) 487-2140 (24 hours) for an intake interview.
4) Larkin Street Youth Services operates several programs in the city that can help arrange shelter for homeless youths under the age of 24.
Please do not show up at the shelters without a reservation. You will be directed back to a Resource Center.
Because of threatened city human services budget cuts in 2009, many reservation, case-management, and shelter services can be curtailed or eliminated with minimum notice. The San Francisco Homeless Resource Wiki encourages all persons to contribute the newest and best information as it becomes available.
Persons seeking shelter are encouraged to call services providers ahead of time if possible to save themselves traveling long distances for nothing. Don't be afraid to ask service persons questions. They are often trained not to volunteer answers without being asked first.
