The San Francisco Homeless Services Coalition is a nonprofit, educational, grassroots organization working to elevate community awareness about the homeless crisis in the Bay Area. SFHSC promotes legislative reform for the funding of homeless services throughout California and raises resources for local shelters and services.

The main goal of the SFHSC is to bridge the gap between the residents of the Bay Area and the homeless community through the following three programs that are supported primarily by our canvassing efforts:

  • Community Education: We are educating the community about the homeless crisis with a view to overcoming stereotypes about homelessness. Misconceptions about who is homeless and why hinder homeless services from obtaining adequate funding.
  • Linking Service: SFHSC is establishing a database for in-kind donations as a resource for Bay Area shelters and service providers. We identify what the community has to offer and match it with the specific needs of shelters and service providers.
  • Financial Support: SFHSC is committed to supporting Bay Area homeless service providers with monetary contributions. We target providers that offer long-term supportive and rehabilitative services for women, children, and families.
