Named after Dr. Tom Waddell, the Tom Waddell Urban Health Center provides health care to mostly poor, disadvantaged and homeless persons. It is associated with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and located in the Civic Center neighborhood near San Francisco City Hall.
The Urban Health Center specializes in multi-disciplinary services for responding to a wide range of medical, psychological and social needs presented by homeless clients. The internal structure of the Health Center is divided into two structures:
- Clinical Disciplines - provide the forum for administrative and clinical, including medical, nursing, social work, mental health and outreach.
- Clinical Teams - provide the forum for the organization of patient care through multi-disciplinary services, with each team being organized around a primary care or specialty focus, such as HIV, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Women Services, Shelters and Substance Abuse Residential Centers.
The Tom Waddell Urban Health Center is a member of the SF Community Health Network.
